A HOME IN HEAVEN

A HOME IN HEAVEN

John 14: 1-7

 by Rev. Richard Jones

Overview

John 14: 1-7

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going. 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

Heaven is a Real Place

John 14: 1-2

1“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Psalm 11:4

The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes see, His eyelids test the children of man.

9 But, as it is written, What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who   love him”—

Heaven is a Beautiful Place

John 14: 3

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Psalm 50:2

2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

Psalm 96:6

6 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Revelation 21: 18-23

18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 1 9 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.   21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Heaven Is an Exclusive Place

John 14: 4-6

4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 1: 14

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son[ from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Acts 4: 11-12

11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
