DIFFERENT, DUE TO LOVE

1 John 3: 18 – 4: 11

 WHAT WE DO
1 John 3:18-24 (ESV)

18  Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
19  By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him;
20  for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything. 21  Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 22  and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. 23  And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. 24  Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)
14  And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
15  And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

John 15:7 (ESV)
7  If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

WHAT SATAN DOES
1 John 4:1-6 (ESV)

1  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3  and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.  4  Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5  They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. 6  We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

1 Corinthians 14:29-33 (ESV)
29  Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30  If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31  For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged,
32  and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33  For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

WHAT GOD DID
1 John 4:7-11 (ESV)

7  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8  Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.   9  In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10  In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Hebrews 12:28-29 (ESV)
28  Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, 29  for our God is a consuming fire.

1 Peter 1:17-19 (ESV)
17  And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
18  knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
19  but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
