“The Purpose”

Galatians 4:4-7 (NASB)

4  But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5  so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6  Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7  Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.

1. Before the world was created, HE DIED FOR US!

Revelation 13:8 (NASB) 8  All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.

2. Before He was physically born, HE DIED FOR US!

Matthew 1:21 (NASB) 21  ”She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

3. In what He taught, HE DIED FOR US!

Luke 9:22b (NASB) 22  “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.”

4. In what was told about Him, HE DIED FOR US!

John 11:47-51 (NASB)
47  Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.
48  If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”
49  But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,
50  nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”
51  Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

Question…”What can His death do for you and me today?”

1. He provides the way to God.

John 14:6 (NASB) 6  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

2. He frees us from the guilt of sin.

Ephesians 1:7 (NASB) 7  In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

3. He gives us abundant life.

John 10:10 (NASB) 10  “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
